It was so much more than about ‘losing weight’ ...

Five years ago I contacted Marilyn because I needed to make a change in my life, my diet and my weight.  I have always admired her outlook on food and nutrition and knew that she was very knowledgeable in the subject.  She opened my eyes in a way I never thought imaginable and taught me so many things about eating and living a healthy lifestyle.  She also taught me how to look at food, about what food's true purpose is and where food comes from. It was so much more than about "losing weight".  It was being healthy, it was about disease prevention, about nourishing my body, filling up on the most nutritious foods and how do it and STILL enjoy my meals!

She was always full of tips and advice on how to maintain my healthy lifestyle even in situations where it isn't always easy such as parties, dining out and, where it seems nearly impossible, when it comes to feeding my kids!   With her help, guidance and support I was able to lose nearly 40 pounds, and she gave me the knowledge and skills I needed to be conscious about food for the rest of my life. In addition to being extremely knowledgeable and experienced in eating well, she is also one of the kindest, most caring people I know.  I cannot thank her enough for everything she has done for me.

Marilyn introduced me to an appealing new lifestyle - one where I don’t feel deprived, I enjoy what I eat (because I do love to eat!) and actually have sustainable energy levels that let me be more productive and alert.

I met Marilyn when I signed up for a 6-week workshop she was leading at a local yoga studio. At that point, I was 30 pounds overweight and so dejected about my undeniable sugar addiction that I honestly had zero expectations of what - if anything - I would learn from my experience. I can honestly say that what I learned from her not only changed my life, but may have very well saved it.

Obesity runs in my family and although I'd never struggled with my weight as a young woman, I noticed a huge difference once I hit 35. Suddenly, all of the bad eating habits I'd accumulated over the years came to haunt me. No longer could I eat pizza night after night and still slink into my size 4 wardrobe. I hit rock bottom when my once size 4 figure was barely fitting into a size 10.  My cravings for sugar and carbs were all-consuming to the point of uncontrollable. I knew I could become diabetic, I knew I was too young to succumb to the effects of a horrible diet, but I had tried "dieting" and exercising the traditional way and just kept falling victim to my weaknesses over and over.

What Marilyn provided me was an intelligent toolbox of knowledge and a sustainable blueprint for embracing real food.  She educated me on how to regain control of my appetite not by counting calories, but by managing my energy via optimal digestion. She provided alternatives to the foods I'd trained myself to be dependent on, always taking care to explain the "why." Even in my depressed state, I couldn't argue the logic she presented me with. I took her advice and adjusted the way I'd approached food my entire life. To my surprise, it didn't take months to adapt - it took weeks.  I started to feel less sluggish within days. I reminded myself how GOOD food tasted when it was fresh - something I hadn't experienced since I was a child living down the road from a farm stand. Through my sessions with her, Marilyn introduced me to an appealing new lifestyle - one where I don't feel deprived, I enjoy what I eat (because I do love to eat!) and actually have sustainable energy levels that let me be more productive and alert.

The result? So far, I'm 15 pounds lighter and fitting back into size 6 clothes!  I've still got work to do, but I understand that this is not "miracle" weight loss - it is healthy, slow and stable. I give Marilyn all the credit for proving that there IS an alternative to pills and shakes and crazy crash diets. I truly owe her a debt of gratitude. Marilyn is a patient, compassionate and highly skilled expert of holistic nutrition and I'm more than happy to give her my wholehearted endorsement.

I sought Marilyn's advice while suffering through a winter of chronic illness, asthma, allergies and overall fatigue -- all the while living what I thought was a "healthy" life.  I just couldn't understand why someone who should be so healthy wasn't. After spending a lot of time understanding my eating and lifestyle habits, Marilyn counseled me on the unique nutrients and practices that I needed to incorporate into my life that would address my specific needs -- and it certainly wasn't the typical cookie-cutter diet or fad.  It was prescribed in Marilyn's soothing "no judgement" style, in which I was never made to feel stupid or guilty about my past or current choices. Instead, I was simply shown opportunities where I could help myself.

Fast forward a few months, and my vitamin levels have never been better (as my doctor told me based on my recent blood work results), my skin and hair look great and I even lost a few pounds -- all by making minor tweaks to my existing lifestyle, which were so easy to incorporate, that I am confident that I can maintain them for the rest of my life.

Thank you Marilyn, for your dedicated support and exceptional expertise!
